A Beginner's Guide to Cell Phone Unlocking

I am willing to bet you have your own cellphone.  In 2013 most people have cellphones and smartphones can do anything from making calls to surfing the internet and playing online multiplayer games.  With the thousands of free and paid apps on the market, there is almost nothing you can't do on your phone these days.  But if you really want to get the most out of your phone, you will have to unlock it.  So I want to talk a little about unlocking cellphones.

First let me explain what unlocking a cellphone means.  Unlocking a phone just means altering the SIM card and removing the restrictions on it.  Why would you want to do this?  The reason is simple- it enables you to use your phone anywhere in the world and with any service provider.  If you do a lot of traveling then you can see the benefits in this.  It is also nice when you want to use a phone not normally carried by your service providers. I hope that explains why people like unlocking their cellphones.  But I do want to be upfront about the downsides to unlocking phones.  Unlocking your phone voids the warranty, which for many people is a good reason not to do this.  The other reason is the question of legality.  It is no longer considered illegal, but phonemakers do still dislike the idea of customers changing their phones.  So some people don't bother unlocking their phones.  But obviously millions of people see the benefits of unlocking their phones, and are continuing to do so with new models.

If you are interested in cellphone unlocking, jailbreaking the phone is necessary first, which simply means removing all other restrictions on your phone.  One of the simpler methods is to just use software which you can find for free online.  The other option is to do all the steps manually.  Just pick an option and stick to it and use the internet for help if you need it.  But do be careful because sometimes a simple mistake can ruin your phone.

There is another option though if you want your cellphone unlocked by don't want to try unlocking it yourself.  If you get on the internet and do a quick search I am positive you will find many different websites that can unlock blackberry 10 for you if you send it to them.  On most sites the prices are actually fairly low.  However there are always some websites that are not quite as reputable, so make sure to do your research and only use legitimate websites when you are paying for something and handing over your phone.
